Hello Everyone!
To start this blog off right I am beginning with the song and artist I’ve stolen my blog title from. Josh Ritter’s,Bone Of Song.Josh Ritter is an extremely talented singer, song writer, guitarist, lute player, pianist, violinist, and an author to boot!
He was born in Idaho and began writing music as a teenager. He was inspired by artists such as Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan (good kid, right?). Later, he attended Oberlin College in Ohio and graduated with a self-created major in “American History Through Narrative Folk Music.” After graduation at age 21 he recorded his first album but was soon afterwards off to study again. This time however in Scotland, where he lived for six months and attended the School of Scottish Folk Studies.
All the studying paid off and it did not take long for him to hit it big, lucky for us, on the folk scene in the USA and Europe. His Americana style and narrative lyrics make him a truly great artist.
He is not currently touring but, if you are lucky enough to live in New York, NY, he does have a show tonight. To learn more about Josh Ritter check out his website: joshritter.com
So, this will be Josh Ritter week, needless to say, and I chose to focus on my favorite album of his Hello Starling. Enjoy.
